Next generation surgical robotics system for
cardiac catheter control.

Amigo is a new generation of robotic catheter systems. It utilises a
simple design and a familiar controller. Requiring less than one hour of
practice, Amigo is designed to be easy to learn and offers significant
decreases in navigation times.

Our client asked:

Catheter Precision wanted to re-engineer their Gen 1 system to
address cost, functionality and usability issues. They wanted a
partner who could both identify the right concept approach and
take the system through full development. Sagentia Innovation, with our extensive experience in medical product consulting, was
initially engaged to generate subsystem concepts.

Results: deliverables and outcomes

Based on results of the subsystem concepts Sagentia Innovation
generated we progressed to undertake the complete system
redevelopment including:

• Electro-mechanical drive systems.

• CPU-based motion control and FPGA-based safety architecture.

• Industrial Design.

• Sterile disposables development.

• System risk management.

• 13485 Technical File.

• Following novel concept work, the system was developed from
specification to verification readiness in under 12 months.

• Functionality and usability was significantly improved over the
Gen 1 system.

• A cost reduction of the order of 50% was also delivered over that of
the Gen 1 system.
