Sagentia to present at HBA Global Expo and Conference in New York
19 June 2012
New York City (June 19, 2012)--Dan Edwards, senior vice president of
Sagentia’s consumer & industrial products division will present on the opportunity that devices deliver to the CPG industry during the 20
th annual
HBA Global Expo held in New York City. Edwards has been selected to speak alongside Amy Ziegler, Global Personal Care Analyst, of Mintel and Wendy Lewis of Wendy Lewis & Co. The presentation will include the increasingly important topic of how technology is driving major developments in the beauty and personal care device market and where this is expected to lead. The session is part of a larger program Sagentia is participating in to raise awareness around open innovation in the health and beauty industry.
“With technological advances and reduced costs in the optical, electronic and mechanical fields, the personal care device and consumer packaged goods markets are seeing a variety of new and exciting innovations,” said Brent Hudson, CEO of Sagentia. “We are happy to be attending HBA Global Expo which is at the forefront of highlighting these advances.”
Presenting during the HBA Global Expo Skin Care Session today from 1:00—2:00pm, Edwards will delve into the business, technology and consumer benefits of the personal care device opportunity. He will also give examples of products and concepts on the market and will present an approach for CPG companies to get started. Edwards’ claim is that by integrating technology-enabled devices and diagnostics into existing chemistry based brands, companies can create differentiation in the market and provide consumers with new levels of efficacy and experience by addressing their unique physiology and providing multi-sensorial experiences. To support this thesis, Edwards will present a case study of the Dove Advanced Diagnostics Device Sagentia helped launch for Unilever’s Dove brand.
“Innovation in the personal care, health and beauty industry has traditionally been dominated by R&D in formulation chemistry and huge marketing budgets,” said Edwards. “However, we are at the cusp of a new frontier which combines technology with the experience economy. Devices are the next platform of innovation for personal care technologies from CPG companies.”
Sagentia’s focus on cross-sector device innovation stems from the company’s experience as a global leader in outsourced R&D consulting services for the consumer, medical and industrial sectors. Sagentia has worked with CPG companies to deliver front end market needs analysis through to transfer to manufacture to help organizations deliver better products.
