Sagentia appoints Niall Mottram as Vice President of U.S. Innovation & Technology Team

17 April 2012

Sagentia announced today the appointment of Niall Mottram as vice president of its U.S. Innovation and Technology team. As vice president, Niall will be leading the front-end innovation team, as well as supporting business development and operations stateside. Based in Cambridge, U.K. with offices in Cambridge MA, Sagentia is a global innovation, technology and product development company that provides outsourced R&D to clients in the consumer, industrial and medical sectors.

“North America represents 65 percent of our core business revenue. It is clear to us that this market continues to be a tremendous growth opportunity for Sagentia,” said Brent Hudson, CEO of Sagentia. “Niall’s appointment demonstrates our commitment to this market and in particular, to the northeast region where the need for innovation among both new and established companies in the medical and consumer sectors is strong.”

Prior to leading Sagentia’s innovation and technology management team in the U.S., Niall was a sector specialist in the company’s consumer products business, enabling clients to move products to market through the use of science-driven innovation that is feasible and novel. He has been a key contributor to Sagentia’s success since 2005, working across the consumer, medical and industrial sectors, delivering breakthrough innovation for clients around the world.

“I am very excited with my new role in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Nothing is more satisfying than helping a company remove obstacles and experience success,” explains Niall. “Despite the rhetoric about dying innovation in the U.S., there is an enormous appetite – in the Boston market, in particular – for medical device and CPG companies to bring innovative, new products to market in shorter timeframes. My objective is to build additional relationships in the U.S. and create more opportunity for today’s product development leaders to innovate.”

Before joining Sagentia, Niall worked for a major engineering company within the oil and gas sector in the UK, solving engineering problems on behalf of multinational oil companies. In addition, he has experience in the nuclear industry working on the decommissioning of an aging nuclear power generation facility. Niall has a Masters degree in chemical engineering from the University of Edinburgh, is a Chartered Chemical Engineer and is an accredited PRINCE2 Practitioner (Project Management).
