An initiative is underway to help Yorkshire and Humber based organisations get involved with the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) – the European Commission’s main mechanism for funding collaborative R&D projects across Europe. Funded by regional development agency Yorkshire Forward, and implemented by Sagentia and RTC North, Euro Research Support aims to help organisations in the region access the €53 billion funding available under FP7.

The support service includes a dedicated helpline and website featuring information on calls for applications, plus a toolkit on how to apply. Sagentia and RTC North will be the main information point for organisations in the region wishing to participate and will be providing feedback on applications. The team was selected based on their expertise in the public sector; Sagentia recently led another programme of work with Yorkshire Forward – Innovation Challenge – which helped create and safeguard 1,264 jobs and created £20m of additional sales in the region.

John Greaves, Sagentia’s Head of Public Sector Practice, comments: ‘This type of support is invaluable in helping organisations access the funds available through the European Commission. Encouraging R&D collaborations in this way provides organisations in the region with an excellent opportunity to work with major companies across Europe and will help create increased innovation and wealth in the area’.
