Breakthrough lighting technology launched at Medica

14 November 2007

Medica, Düsseldorf, November 14 to 17, 2007: Sagentia is pleased to announce Brandon Medical, a Sagentia client, will be the first company in the world to showcase HD LED technology in 4 new ranges of operating lamps, minor surgical lamps and examination lamps developed with Sagentia.  These breakthrough products are vastly improved, and the technology behind them better performing, than any existing technology on the market.

With more than 20 years experience in the medical and healthcare sector, Sagentia’s unwavering commitment to innovation has seen the development of breakthrough medical technologies, products and services which have helped to change the basis of competition for many leading medical companies worldwide such as; CHF Solutions, Johnson & Johnson, Astra Zeneca, BOC Edwards and GlaxoSmithKline Plc.

The new HD LED lights for Brandon Medical are no exception.  They include all the benefits of high brightness LED technology; infra-red free cold light; long life; shadow control and energy efficiency, with all the technical challenges solved such as; colour rendition; thermal management and cost.  Features include;

  • full spectrum colour rendition - the first LED lighting system with near perfect colour rendition across the full visible spectrum
  • fat beam illumination -big, adjustable light beams with more light across the full width of the illuminated area
  • red balance control -red balance enhancement compensates for our natural weakness in distinguishing shades of red for optimum visualisation of red tissues

Dr Euan Morrison, Senior Consultant on the Sagentia team, says: “We worked closely with Brandon Medical to identify and solve a number of the technical challenges faced by using LEDs in medical lighting.By utilising both Sagentia’s deep understanding of science,  Brandon medical’s specific industry expertise and our combined technical knowledge we have developed an outstanding range of new products incorporating HD LED technology which significantly enhances performance that benefit both the users’ and the patients’ experiences.”  Euan Morrison from Sagentia’s LED team will be on-hand at Brandon Medical’s booth on 14 November Hall 13, stand B20.

Sagentia joins companies from 65 nations showcasing a broad spectrum of new products, appliances, systems and services for inpatient and outpatient care, enabling things that seemed unimaginable a few years ago. Visit Sagentia’s booth, Hall 16, stand F10-4-L, and find out about the latest innovation thinking in the medical field and talk to our experts about everything from customer insight and ‘opportunity discovery’, through core science and technology to product and service development and delivery.

In addition, Andreas Reichmuth from Sagentia’s Business and Innovation team will be speaking on Identifying Growth Opportunities at Medica Vision - which runs along side Medica. The talk on takes place on Saturday 17 November at 12:15 in Hall 3 Stand H92.
